Geriatric Primary Care Continuing Education and Professional Development for NPs and PAs
The ThriveAP Geriatric Primary Care Program offers a structured, systems-based curriculum that includes didactic clinical training in interested in caring for older adults. The offerings aim to enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies in the field of geriatric care, preparing them to deliver high-quality, comprehensive healthcare to elderly patients in various settings, such as primary care clinics, long-term care facilities, and home health agencies.
Geriatrics Primary Care Program Goals
Whether the participant is a new NP or PA, a practitioner transitioning to geriatrics, or an expert provider moving to a new field, the 12-month program uses the latest evidence-based practice to mitigate learning gaps and upskill providers to gain confidence and competence in geriatrics.
In addition to clinical didactic experiences, participants engage in case discussions, journal clubs, and individual mentorship opportunities to enhance their clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice skills. The program also emphasizes cultural competence, patient advocacy, and interprofessional collaboration to prepare nurse practitioners to deliver holistic, patient-centered care to the elderly in a variety of healthcare settings.
